UPM Hands Over Duit Raya To 64 Children in Semarak Putra Ramadan 2.0 Programme

SERDANG, June 26 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has given away financial assistance to 64 disabled and needy children of university staff in conjunction with Semarak PUTRA Ramadan 2.0 2016 Programme which was held at Jakel Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy Director of Corporate Strategy and Communications Office (CoSComm),  Prof. Dr. Mansor Ahmad @ Ayob said the programme, held for the second time, involved students and staff who were assisted by Pusat Tanggungjawab, UPM.

“Last year, 37 children of UPM staff were gathered for this buying-of-Baju Raya activity. It received overwhelming response from university residents,” he said.



He added that the programme had left such a positive impact and inculcate good values among staff and students who were willing to come forward to assist those in need.

“This time around, 35 volunteers were gathered to help the children to choose their Baju Raya, giving the former the exposure to continue with UPM volunteerism activity in the future,” he added.



The sponsorship came in the form of RM200 each for the purchase of Baju Raya and duit Raya.

Assistant Officer of Science from the Department of Land Management, Faculty of Agriculture, Sarimah Hashim, said the gift, more or less, helped her to make preparation for Aidilfitri.

“I am thankful to UPM and contributors who have sponsored the duit Raya which will definitely come in handy for staff who are in need,” she said. – UPM.
