SERDANG, Sept 29 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has organised a 'Safety Awareness Training on the Importance of the Covid-19 Diseases Among E-Hailing And P-Hailing Services Community' programme to raise awareness on infectious disease for E-Hailing and P-Hailing community.

The programme was organised in collaboration with Malaysia One Health University Network (MyOHUN), The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN).

MyOHUN Coordinator, Prof.Dr. Latiffah Hassan, said the programme aimed to increase the awareness on the risks of the COVID-19 infection to the E-Hailing and P-Hailing services community, including the prevention methods against it.

"The programme is conducted free of charge, and we brief them on how the disease is transmitted and show them samples of suitable disinfectants that can be used," she said.

She added that the programme served as a symbol of UPM's appreciation to the hailing services community.

Director, Office of Occupational Safety and Health Management (PPKKP), UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Rafee Baharudin, said the demands for hailing services had increased drastically due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO).

"The hailing services community should be given their due attention by allowing them to be formally trained on the Covid-19 prevention methods. Through this programme, it has directly helped to provide new insights to the hailing services community," he said.

The four-day programme was attended by 200 participants from the E-Hailing and P-Hailing services community in compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the National Rehabilitation Plan (PPN).

E-Hailing refers to the use of private vehicles in providing public transportation services to passengers, while P-Hailing refers to the food, drinks and parcel delivery services. - UPM
