PORTFOLIOs
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) leads the administration and management of the university specifically for the academic and international portfolios. For the academic sphere, he has a role in enhancing academic policy development, improving the quality of teaching and learning, and ensuring the quality of academic programs to remain competitive. In addition, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) is responsible for the administration and development of international related matters and internationalization initiatives.
In addition, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) also plays major roles in supporting the Vice Chancellor to steer the direction of university’s leadership towards achieving the university's strategic goals related to teaching and learning as well as internationalization. These include enrichment of student's learning experience, implementation of ongoing professional development for university academic personnel. His other roles cover development of frameworks and policies that support the strategic goals of the university as well as to provide guidance and support to other faculty and PTJ in achieving those goals. In brief, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International)’s portfolio covers several key areas: i. Supervising and strengthening the provision and implementation of teaching and learning activities and promoting academic programs at all levels of study:
- Faculty
- Graduate School of Studies
- Center for Agricultural Science
ii. Enchancing Supporting Functions and Management of Academic and International Affairs:
- Admissions Division and Academic Governance Division
- Academic Development Center (CADe)
- Language Competency Development Center (CALC)
- Putra International Center (PIC)
The main responsibilities of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International) include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of educational activities including integration of faculty planning with overall university planning.
- Education and policy planning, including quality assurance of graduate and post-graduate education, scholarships, and management and development of admission policies.
- University admission management. Promote quality assurance processes and meet ISO requirements.
- Strengthen internal communication and dissemination of information on education and policy management issues.
- Identify academic issues for university management to consider
- Management of curriculum review processes.
- Academic promotion management.
- Management of international affairs.
- Provide policy submissions to Government and related agencies
- Chairing various committees at university level in relation to the subject of undergraduate, graduate, scholarship and officer study, recruitment and promotion of academic staff, convocation, international mobility, domestic and foreign promotion and so on.
In terms of human resource development, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International) works hand in hand with the Registrar specifically on matters pertaining to recruitment, development and monitoring of UPM academics.
