Charity Superhero Run Raises Fund For Fishermen

SERDANG - The Sports and Recreation Student Supreme Council of Mohamad Rashid College together with the Faculty of Environmental Studies' Student Association (FESSA) in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organised the Charity Superhero Run recently, to raise funds for the fishermen of Kampung Makmur, Tanjung Tualang, Perak.

The programme which was jointly organised with the Freshwater Fisheries Society (PENIAT), included a three-kilometre Fun Run Category and a nine-kilometre Fit Run Category.

 

Programme director, Aimi Nadhirah Roslan said that the polluted lake in the village makes it difficult for locals to catch fish.

"I hope that through this programme, students will be able to foster a healthy competitive spirit as well as enhance their communication and social skills with the community," she added.

The programme kicked off with a Zumba Workout, while UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato' Dr. Aini Ideris officiated the charity run.

 

A total of 276 participants took part in the race, 40 participants enrolled in the Fit Run Category while the remaining 236 participants took part in the Fun Run Category.

Willie David Christopher won the race in the Fit Run Men’s Category, followed by Zana Ruhaizat Zana Rudin and Kamarul Faizal Tajaruddin. Meanwhile, in the women's category Susan Swier took the top spot, and this is followed by Norsida Azman and Tan Yi Lan. Each of the winners received medals, trophies and certificates.
