SERDANG – Undergraduates of the Faculty of Design and Architecture (FRSB), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), have been urged to remain committed in helping UPM to realize its aspiration of becoming a university with international reputation.

The university’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Emeritus Prof. Tan Sri Dr. Syed Jalaluddin Syed Salim said faculty staff played an equally important role to increase productivity in UPM.

“In ensuring that UPM will remain in strength as the top spot for intellectuals, all staff should be together in promoting knowledge as a culture, always keep their critical mind alive and remain committed in pursuing excellence in search of new added dimensions,” he said when launching a celebration to signify FRSB’s two decades in operation at UPM, here.

The celebration will motivate and guide all FRSB staff and students to play their respective roles in achieving the faculty’s vision and mission, he said.

FRSB Dean, Assoc. Prof. Lar. Dr. Osman Mohd Tahir, meanwhile, said faculty management always strived to build more network of collaborations with industrial partners and institutions of higher learning, both locally and overseas.

“FRSB appreciates our industrial partners who have been cooperating with FRSB, and it is my hope that the good ties will prevail to allow these experts to add value to industrial developments,” he said.

Besides the celebration, FRSB with the cooperation of Putra Science Park, also organized an “Innovation Open Day 2016” programe to help realize the university’s aspiration to strengthen research designs through various outlets of innovation and commercialization.

Meanwhile, a ‘Sustainable Environmental Exploration And Design (SEED) Showcase’ which was also held, succeeded in drawing the attention of FRSB Final Year students and lecturers. These products with potential for marketing, will lead to collaboration with the industries in producing products to meet market demand. – UPM.
