PSAS wins Bronze Award in InDeLib

PULAU PINANG, May 26 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)’s library, Sultan Abdul Samad (PSAS), won a bronze award at the “International Innovation and Design in Library and Information Science Competition” (InDeLib) organized by Kedah  Universiti Teknologi MARA, (UiTM).

PSAS which was represented by Kumpulan Evolution Sigma under the category of the “library that succeeded to get a "Bronze Award" walked away with the award for its innovative project, entitled “The improvement of book shelving process through lean project in the UPM library”.

The group comprising officers from the Customer Service Division, led by Roslan Ariffin, succeeded in reducing the time taken to arrange books by re-designing the whole process of book arrangement.

In addition, the innovative project has left a positive impact on users in helping them to get quick access to library materials which have been returned.

The project enables PSAS to save on its management expenditure by RM126,000 annually through the re-arrangement system which optimizes use of its staff. – UPM.
