KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has clinched six gold, two silver and two bronze medals at the 31st International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition 2020 (ITEX 2020), thus recording 100 per cent winning for medals.
ITEX 2020 received more than 500 entries from 15 countries and was held online from November 20 to 21. It was officiated by the Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad.
ITEX is the first research and development (R&D) competition held entirely online, and the judging was based on video technology submitted.
UPM sent ten entries to ITEX 2020 which was also attended by universities, research agencies, higher education institutions, government agencies, companies and schools locally and abroad.
Prof. Dr. Robiah Yunus (Faculty of Engineering) won two gold medals for technology related to the oil palm industry, while the other gold medal winners were Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Thariq Hameed Sultan (Faculty of Engineering), Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahrizal Dolah (Faculty of Design and Architecture), Dr. Ahmad Haniff Jaafar (Faculty of Food Science and Technology) and Dr. Latifah Omar (UPM Bintulu Campus).
